Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has emphasized the need for a bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Brazil to achieve food sovereignty, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agricultural agenda.
Bago stated this when he appeared on NTA Tuesday live to discuss “Nigeria’s economic diplomacy with Brazil. He highlighted similarities between Nigeria and Brazil, as both countries have strong agricultural capabilities.
He emphasized that Brazil has become a net exporter of sugar, rice, and corn, making it a global giant in agriculture and the importance of achieving food sovereignty and becoming a net exporter.
And also emphasized the need for investment in irrigation, high-quality seeds, improved planting methods, mechanisation, livestock development, and increased income for farmers.
He commended Tinubu for his agricultural foresight and urged governments to continue working with the agricultural network, support the private sector, and establish laws supporting people-oriented policies.
