Governors in the North-East zone of Nigeria have expressed concern over the impending floods, which could have severe consequences on lives and property.
The North East Governors’ Forum (NEGF), comprising Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe states, called for proactive measures to confront the disaster and for the Federal Government to intervene to repair damaged infrastructure.
The governors also called for more subsidies to farmers and better preparation for dry-season farming to avoid food crises. They acknowledged the success of the insurgency campaign but acknowledged the challenges faced by the region. They agreed to hold the North-East Trade Fair in Maiduguri, Borno state, in December 2025.
The governors emphasized the need for a multidimensional approach to address security challenges, including education, healthcare, security, and infrastructural development.
