Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has proposed the establishment of Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) to prevent the entry of bandits from neighboring states, particularly in the Mariga local government area.

He made the call when he received the theater commander, joint Taskforce, northwest operation Fansa Yamma Major General Warrah Idris and his entourage on a courtesy visit in Minna the state capital

He also urged for the recruitment of 25,000 local youths as soldiers to combat insecurity.

Bago highlighted the need for better military resources and acknowledged the military’s efforts against rising insecurity.

Maj. Gen. Idris emphasized their mandate to eradicate banditry and terrorism, noting ongoing operations in key areas to secure the region.
