Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, declared open on Monday the seventh edition of a capacity-building workshop for judges and justices, organised by the EFCC and the National Judicial Institute.
The Vice President, who represented President Bola Tinubu at the event, said as a result of the non-interference of the current administration in the activities of the anti-graft agency, the EFCC was making progress in ridding Nigeria of corruption.
Shettima stated that the EFCC is making progress in ridding Nigeria of corruption due to the current administration’s non-interference in its activities.
The agency has secured over 7,000 convictions in the past two years and recovered assets worth over ₦500 billion.
The recovered proceeds are being used for developmental purposes across various sectors of the economy.
Shettima also emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the rule of law and accountability among all public servants, stating that the administration has allowed both the judiciary and anti-corruption agencies to exercise their constitutional and statutory powers.
