The Fulani socio-cultural association, Miyetti-Allah Kautal Hore, has praised the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development for initiating the development of 415 grazing reserves in Nigeria, viewing it as a means to mitigate farmer-herder conflicts and enhance livestock production.
In their statement, the association condemned media profiling of Fulani pastoralists and expressed concern over the killings of pastoralists by non-state actors, calling for a police inquiry.
They acknowledged the efforts of the National Security Adviser and Senate Committee in addressing conflicts in the North-West but refuted claims that farmer-herder conflicts are the main sources of insecurity, attributing violence to state-sponsored vigilantes.
Miyetti Allah urged a reform of security and justice systems for pastoralists and requested government support for the Ministry of Livestock Development, while thanking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to livestock development and pastoralist welfare.
