President Tinubu’s temporary suspension of raw shea nut exports is a powerful enabler to Niger state. It is a national policy that directly aligns with and supports the state’s visionary investment. The policy is designed to create exactly the environment Niger State needs to succeed: a protected local market for raw materials that forces the development of a domestic value-added processing industry. If managed well, this move will secure the supply chain for the largest shea butter processing plant in Africa, bringing more jobs, higher incomes for rural women, and greater economic prosperity to Niger State.
