The Niger State Government has met with the Association of Scrap and Waste Dealers Employers of Nigeria to address the persistent vandalism of public and private properties.
The meeting was attended by farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, who urged the association to sanitise its members and help catch bad eggs.
A meeting with stakeholders across 25 local government areas and security agency heads will be held to review the association’s operational guidelines.
The governor also called for the task force to increase activities at major entry and exit points to halt uncertified scrap movement.
The association plans to introduce uniforms and identity cards to curb sharp practices among members.
