Sushila Karki, 73, was sworn in as interim leader to restore order and address protesters’ demands for a corruption-free future.
Parliament was later dissolved, and elections set for March 5, 2026.
The new prime minister was widely welcomed as people sought to put the unrest behind them.
The protests have fed into long-standing economic woes in Nepal, with a fifth of people aged 15-24 unemployed.
