Niger State Government has partnered with the Rural Electrification Agency to enhance sustainable renewable energy through decentralized solar power solutions in rural communities.
This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to electrify areas with significant solar potential, as stated by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.
The initiative focuses on independent renewable sources to power 1.5 million people across 3,564 communities in the state, with a goal to inject 20 megawatts of electricity.
The project is part of a larger national plan to electrify 17.5 million Nigerians through 1,350 mini grids.
Additionally, the agency’s e-HEART project aims to support energy, health, education, and agriculture across 100 communities in each state, recognizing energy as a key driver of economic growth and development.
