The Federal Government of Nigeria has escalated security efforts in the North Central region in response to recent terrorist attacks in Kwara State that resulted in approximately 75 fatalities.

The initiative features improved intelligence and rapid-response systems, reflecting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s expanded security mandate following a state of emergency declaration.
Tinubu condemned the Kwara attacks and pledged to combat terrorism, with increased security around places of worship and a shift of police officers from VIP duties to frontline community protection.
The administration maintains a Nigerian-led counter-terrorism strategy but is open to international cooperation that aligns with national interests.
