Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima arrived in Addis Ababa to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government.

Leading a high-level delegation, he landed at Bole International Airport ahead of the summit on February 14 and 15, 2026.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Amb. Yusuf Tuggar stated that the summit’s theme is “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063,” focusing on sustainable water management and sanitation.

Shettima will also engage in the 30th General Assembly and participate in bilateral meetings to enhance Nigeria’s diplomatic and economic partnerships, further addressing regional peace and security challenges.

Notably, Nigeria received a permanent seat on the Board of the African Central Bank, reinforcing its leadership in Africa’s financial future.
