The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned South African Football Association (SAFA) for fielding an ineligible player, Teboho Mokoena, in the FIFA World Cup 2026 preliminary match against Lesotho.
The decision follows breaches of Article 19 and 14 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
The match was forfeited, SAFA fined CHF 10,000, and Mokoena issued a warning. Both parties have ten days to request a motivated decision.
