President Bola Tinubu has directed the immediate withdrawal of police officers from guarding Very Important Persons (VIPs) to enhance community policing across Nigeria.

This decision, made during a security meeting, aims to address the inadequate police presence in remote areas.

VIPs will now need to engage the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for security.

To bolster police capacity, Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 30,000 additional officers and is collaborating with state governments to improve police training facilities.

This policy shift emphasizes community safety and responsiveness to security threats.
